Artificial Grass Installation in San Marcos
A San Marcos lawn asks a lot of you: early-morning watering on your assigned day, weekend mowing in the heat, and reseeding every fall to cover what summer burned out. Artificial grass ends that cycle. San Marcos Turf Pros installs residential turf from the first measurement to the final brush, and your yard stays green and usable all twelve months.
We work on front lawns, backyards, side yards, and the areas around pools and patios. Whatever the size, the job gets the same attention below the surface, since the base is what separates a lawn that stays smooth from one that sinks after a few hard rains.

What You Gain With an Artificial Grass Lawn
- Color that doesn't quit. The lawn looks the same in August as it does in April, including the shady side of the house.
- A much smaller water bill. The sprinklers go quiet, and drought stages stop dictating how your yard looks. The EPA's WaterSense program has more on how much water outdoor irrigation uses.
- Free weekends. No mower, no trimmer, no fertilizer spreader, and no gas can in the garage.
- Clean floors. Rain passes through the turf instead of making mud, so kids and dogs don't track the yard into the house.
- A sharper-looking home. A crisp, even lawn lifts the whole front of the property.
Where Turf Makes Sense Around the House
Front lawns. The part of the yard everyone sees stays trimmed-looking, with tidy lines along the driveway, walk, and beds.
Backyards. An even, comfortable surface for cookouts, kids, and bare feet. Many homeowners add a putting green or carve out a dog area at the same time.
Side yards. Narrow, shaded strips between houses rarely grow good grass. Turf turns them into clean, walkable space.
Around pools and patios. Turf gives you a soft green edge next to concrete and stone, and it won't wash mulch or dirt into the water.

Our Artificial Grass Installation, Step by Step
Step 1
Walk and measure
We measure the area, note how water moves across it, and help you settle on a turf style.
Step 2
Take out the old lawn
Existing grass, weeds, and the top few inches of soil are removed and hauled off.
Step 3
Lay the foundation
Crushed rock is spread, graded to drain away from the house, and compacted. Weed barrier is added where it's needed.
Step 4
Fit the turf
We unroll the turf, trim it around beds and borders, join the seams so they blend, and pin down the perimeter.
Step 5
Infill and finish
Infill settles between the blades to add weight and support, and a power brush stands the fibers up.
Picking a Turf That Suits Your Yard
Turf comes in more varieties than most people expect. Blade length, blade shape, color mix, and the thatch woven in at the base all change the way a lawn looks up close and from the street. A shorter, denser turf suits play areas and paths that get constant use. A longer, plusher one gives a front lawn that deep, just-mowed look. We bring samples to your estimate so you can lay them on the ground and compare them in your own light.
Because San Marcos yards get so much direct sun, we point most homeowners toward turf with UV stabilizers and heat-reducing technology, which helps it hold its color and feel better under bare feet.

Turf Alongside Pavers, Stone, and Concrete
Some of the best-looking yards mix turf with hardscape. Ribbons of turf between large pavers, stepping stones set into a green lawn, and a turf border around a pool deck are all popular requests.
The detail work is in the edges. We trim turf tight against stone and concrete so there are no gaps or frayed lines, and we set steel, stone, or concrete edging where turf meets a planting bed. That edging keeps mulch and soil where they belong and gives the lawn a clean outline.

Irrigation, Drainage, and Trees
Irrigation. Turf doesn't need the sprinkler zones that fed your old lawn. We cap or move the heads inside the turf area and keep the lines that water your beds, shrubs, and trees.
Drainage. Water passes through the turf backing and into the base, so the grade underneath matters. This is especially true on the clay soil east of I-35, where water is slow to soak in. We shape the base so runoff heads away from your slab and out toward the street or a drain.
Trees. Lawns thin out under live oaks, pecans, and anywhere the house casts shade. Turf needs no sun at all. We trim it around trunks, leave space for the root flare, and keep tree irrigation running.
Artificial Grass FAQs
What does artificial grass installation cost?
The price comes down to square footage, the turf you select, and the amount of prep the ground needs. After we measure, you'll get a free, itemized quote.
Can you install artificial grass on a sloped yard?
Yes. Slopes call for extra care with the base and with anchoring, and we account for both in your estimate.
Do weeds come up through artificial grass?
Rarely. A compacted base and weed barrier block most of them. If one sprouts along an edge, it pulls out easily.
Can turf go around my trees?
Yes. We cut the turf to fit around each trunk and leave room for roots and watering, so the tree stays healthy.
What do you do with my sprinkler system?
Heads inside the turf area are capped or relocated during the install. Zones that water beds, shrubs, and trees stay in service.
Can turf be installed between pavers?
Yes. Turf strips between pavers and around stepping stones are one of our most requested looks, and they never need trimming.
